I know I’m having an abortion so why would I need a pregnancy center?

You may feel very confident in your decision to have an abortion right now. Our pregnancy center can work with you to help you have the fullest, most accurate information about abortion, as well as your other options of parenting and choosing parents for your baby.

Confirmation of Pregnancy and Viability of Pregnancy: You may feel ready to have an abortion and think that’s the route you are going to take. But first, have you taken a pregnancy test? Not starting your period does not automatically indicate you are pregnant; it is important to take a test to be sure. If tests were taken incorrectly or are expired, they may not show the most accurate results. A pregnancy center can provide a confirmation of your pregnancy as well as an ultrasound to determine the viability of pregnancy. 1 out of every 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage. An ultrasound will let you know that your pregnancy is viable and if left alone, would develop a baby to full term. This is important information to know because not all abortion providers will determine viability before providing a medical abortion.

Know How Far Along You Are: The options for abortion vary depending on how far along you are in a pregnancy. A pregnancy center can tell you exactly how far along your pregnancy is and let you know if an abortion procedure is still an option for you depending on the length of your pregnancy. Should you be further along in your pregnancy than you initially thought, the pregnancy center can help you understand what other options are available for you in your pregnancy such as parenting or choosing parents for your baby.

Health and Safety Checklist: Our pregnancy center can share with you some questions you should ask of any provider or facility providing abortions to assess if your needs will be cared for and met before, during, and after an abortion procedure. Some of these questions may include “if I change my mind, can I get my money back?” “do you have hospital admitting privileges?” “is there follow up care for me if I have complications?” and much more.

Support for Other Children: If you are currently parenting and considering abortion, come to our pregnancy center to meet with our team. We absolutely care about you and your pregnancy, but we also care about the children that are currently in your care. We can share items from our care closet with you, help you access other community resources, help you establish a wider community for your family, and much more. We know parenting can feel incredibly overwhelming at times, and we want to be a resource for your family in this season.

Know You’re In the Driver’s Seat: This is your pregnancy, your child, and your choice as to what is the best option moving forward. Nobody can make this decision for you and at our pregnancy center we want to make sure you feel equipped and empowered to make the best choice for you and your baby. Our team can help if you feel pressured to have an abortion by someone else, are being coerced in any way, or have someone trying to take away your voice in deciding the best plan for you and your baby.
